Strahan: Cruising Maquarie Harbour

From Tullah to Strahan.  The ride to Strahan was lovely as one would expect almost anywhere in Tasmania.

We took a cruise on Macquarie Harbour, a tour or Sarah Island and a cruise on the Gordon River - all part of the same excursion.

First we headed out through Hell's Gates, the natural entrance to the harbour.

A returning fishing boat.

Not aesthetically pleasing but the scenery is nice.

Aquaculture in action.  Sea Trout, the same as Rainbow Trout but raised in brackish are grown here.

The water in the harbour is rich in tannin from a plant which grows around it.  It gives the water a brown colour under some circumstances.

The skipper observes the crew securing the lines to the Sarah Island jetty.
